The SC2TOG stitch is a crochet technique that allows you to work two stitches together as if they were one. This is a great way to decrease the number of stitches in your work or to create shapes and patterns.

To work the SC2TOG stitch, insert your hook into the first stitch, yarn over and pull through (two loops on hook), insert your hook into the next stitch, yarn over and pull through (three loops on hook), yarn over and pull through all three loops on hook.

How do you make a sc2tog stitch?

To make a single crochet Two-together all you need to do is opt for regular single crochet. Insert the hook in the chain and pull up a loop.

Now with that two loops in your hook insert the hook in the next stitch and pull up another loop. 

Now that you have three loops in your hook, simply yarn over and pull through all of the three loops, and voila you just made a single crochet two together. 

Now if you’re wondering what is the purpose of this stitch then let me clear it for you. Just look at the stitch you’ve just made, you’ll see that you have the base of two stitches and at the top, you have only one chain, just like I have in the picture below.

We make single crochet two-together whenever we want to have a decrease in the stitch count of the next round. For example, if you had 10 single crochet in the current round and you made one sc2tog, in the next round you’ll have 9 single crochet.
