Sew Reporter – 20th February

Posted by admin on

Happy Sunday gang! Got any sewing plans this weekend? The weather has *forced* us to stay indoors with some sewing, snacks and the first episodes of the new season of The Marvellous Mrs. Maisel. Oh, dear! We’ve got some fun things for you to browse, just grab a cuppa and get comfy!

Who else is super excited that the Marvellous Mrs. Maisel is back on our screens? We are a little impatient to see all that Midge’s wardrobe has in store for in the fourth season, so we have been studying the teaser videos for styles we already want to recreate!

First up, this gorgeous shirt had us taking a screen snap before we could even watch the snippet through. A few minutes later we were looking for a shirt pattern with that collar. We couldn’t find an exact replica, but we thought the Lucy Shirt by The Patterns Room and the Elisa Blouse by Fibre Mood had a very similar feel. You’d just need to redraft and fill in a bit of the notched collar.

We also spotted Rose’s (Midge’s Mum) stunning shirt and thought you could match combine these two looks in one shirt! The collar styling of Midge’s and Rose’s wonderful colour-blocked shirt. Oh, we do love shirts and that sounds like a dreamy make!

We’ve become utterly obsessed with quilted jackets and Sylvia’s jacket is sitting at the top of our swoon list. Sylvia made the Giselle Jacket by Fibre Mood in this incredible pre-quilted cotton fabric. It looks so cosy and stylish… it really is a dream coat! Read Sylvia’s blog, The Ravel Out for all the juicy details on this make.

This starry sensation caught our eye this week! Lily made a Sudley Dress by Megan Nielsen in this stunning sheer silk fabric and said “The cut of the dress and the silk make for a very comfortable garment. I can add this to my arsenal of secret pajamas!” in this review. We love it Lily!

We are really excited about all the things we’ve added to the shop this week. We have copies of the latest Fibre Mood magazine and a batch of new Fibre Mood PDF patterns if you had your eye on anything from the last issue. We’ve also added some incredible new patterns from Vikisews that are not to be missed!

Do you already have a specific design in mind? Or do you need some help finding the perfect pattern for your fabric? You can search all the patterns in our database using our newly updated sewing-specific search tool.

Edition 18 of the Fibre Mood sewing pattern magazine has a whopping 12 patterns and 29 style variations for elegant, trendy and comfortable items for spring! This edition has designs for dresses, tops, trousers, a skirt and jumpsuit for women, as well as trousers and a dress for children.

The patterns come on pull-out A1 sheets that are folded and stapled into the magazine. The patterns are overlaid and are colour coded which makes them easier to trace off.

We absolutely love a clever sewing hack that saves time, frustration and is fun to do! We’ve gathered quite a few tips from fellow makers over the years so today we are sharing 10 of our favourite sewing hacks on the blog!

She’s back!! We are so excited to pick back up with Midge in the fourth season of The Marvellous Mrs. Maisel on Amazon Prime this weekend. We may have watch each episode twice to swoon over the costumes and follow the story! Our weekend is complete.

Come and join our sewing Facebook group where we are chatting about sewing plans, new patterns and helping each other out with projects.
