Sew Reporter – 13th February

Posted by admin on

Happy Sunday team! How are we all? Who’s enjoying seeing the first bulbs peeking up from the ground ready to make everything so much brighter? We are still in planning mode for 2022 and have a survey we’d love you to complete if you have a moment. It will help us plan our content and what we add to the shop this year! We’ve popped the link in this Sew Reporter!

We’ve got some exciting things to share with you this week. We’ve added The Maker’s Atelier magazines to the shop which are coffee table worthy. We’ve got some great things to share that we’ve spotted in the world of sewing this week. Grab a cuppa, get comfy and enjoy!

We love it when designers share hack tutorials for their patterns. It really helps you get more out of your favourite designs and hacking patterns can develop your sewing skills (and someone has tested it out for you, so you know it works!). Helen’s Closet is a keen hacker! We love this idea for turning the Jackson Tee and Pullover into a hoodie with balloon sleeves. Check out Helen’s fabulous tutorial to recreate this yourself!

January is a great month for slowing down and being intentional, so Lena King picked a slower sewing project to accompany this month. We absolutely love Lena’s Marie Shirt from By Hand London. The cosy brushed flannel works so well with the delicate details… it’s a wonderful winter shirt. Check out Lena’s blog, the Unpick Stitch Papers to read all about this make.

If there’s one handmade garment every sewist should own, a sweatshirt is it. Me Made Magic has wowed us with this wonderful Hug Hoodie by Made It Patterns and said “it really does feel like a hug!”. We would quite like a hug too… we love it!

We are excited to share the new Folkwear basics collection, a new pattern from Itch to Stitch and two new styles from Atelier Scämmit. Have a peek and see what you think!

Do you already have a specific design in mind? Or do you need some help finding the perfect pattern for your fabric? You can search all the patterns in our database using our newly updated sewing-specific search tool.
