Goodbye Winter Layers—Here Are the Dresses Our Editors Are Wearing This Spring

Posted by admin on

New York City hit 70 degrees this week, and while many of us are limiting our time outdoors right now, the warm weather is a welcome. With it comes the possibility of freeing our legs from the wool trousers and restrictive denim they've been in for the past few months, and dresses are the ideal antidote. They're comfortable and extremely practical; in one piece of clothing, you have an entire outfit. From a convertible knit maxi to a ruched slip style, here are the dresses our editors will be wearing to welcome spring.

1. Christopher Esber Convertible Ribbed-knit Maxi Dress: What’s better than the most stunning knit dress you’ve ever seen in your life? Well, I’d say the fact that it transforms into both a skirt and sweater with just a few expertly placed buttons. I have absolutely no problem investing in this style since I’m essentially getting three pieces for the price of one. The spacey green colorway also has my heart all aflutter.

2. & Other Stories Puff Sleeve Maxi Wrap Dress: Never underestimate the power of a really good wrap dress in your wardrobe. I’d pair this stunner in green (I know, shocking for me) with my favorite platform combat boots for day and swap in a pair of bejeweled kitten heel mules for an evening event. Add a swipe of iridescent violet eyeshadow and I’m ready to go.

3. Rejina Pyo Cloud-sleeve Gown: Why would I need a gown in my wardrobe? That’s for me to know and you to find out. This buttery confection of a dress is simply heaven and I need it now.

1. Self Portrait Cutout Lace Mini Dress: I’m a sucker for anything Self Portrait, and this mini dress is perfect with its ruffled skirt and cutout detail. I’ll be wearing this with sneakers all summer long.

2. Ulla Johnson Isla Dress: I have this dress in other colors/patterns, so this bright-white cotton version is a no-brainer addition to my spring wardrobe. It’s also easily the most comfortable dress you'll ever wear—and it has pockets!

3. The Range Braided Ribbed Stretch-jersey Midi Dress: This seemingly simple midi dress from The Range gets a major upgrade with braided straps and ribbed jersey. I’ll be wearing this with layers of gold jewelry and sandals—and if it’s chilly, with a black cashmere cardigan tied around my shoulders.

1. For Love & Lemons Aruba Layered Mini DressFlorals for spring… I know, Miranda Priestly is echoing in my ear too, but hear me out. This mini dress is more than a bold print, it's also multifunctional. The strapless dress comes with a one-shoulder removable shawl that drapes to a full, dramatic skirt. So yes, this floral is IMO groundbreaking.

2. Alice McCall Incantations Dress: I audibly gasped the first time I saw this dress and the true obsession came later when I took a second glance at the detailing. From an amazing blue supple leather, a thick belt at the waist, I emphasize the contrast stitching, and it is even lined with shorts!

3. Aritzia Only Ruched Slip Dress: True life I can’t stop buying satin slip dresses so to my bank accounts delight this mini shakes up the trend ever so slightly. Still reminiscent of what was once intended to be under a garment now takes center stage with a cowl neckline, adjustable side ties, and a Monet inspired print. Sorry, I’m sold.

1. Sea Mimi Smocked Floral Print Dress: I am definitely one of those girls whose closet ranges from navy to darker navy to black, so Spring is when I force myself to experiment with a bit of color. Plus, this one reminds me of the dresses my Grandma used to smock for me when I was younger so that adds a little extra nostalgia to the look.

2. Ganni Wrap Effect Denim Mini Dress: I love this edgier rendition of the classic wrap dress. And when is denim not a good idea? All this dress needs is a pair of sandals and some super simple jewelry and you’re set.

3. Stine Goya Jasmine Tiered Crinkle-taffeta Mini Dress: Look, another option that isn’t a neutral! My go-to look in warmer weather is a super boxy mini dress that feels like I am wearing absolutely nothing at all. I’m a sucker for all of Stine Goya’s voluminous confections, this one included.
